Early in the year when the garden is at its barest and frosts have left the grass sugar tipped and twinkling the Hellebore begins its journey upwards. Filling in the space when the garden feels at its emptiest, often the Hellebores are the thing that gets me through and reminds me that warmer weather is on the way! They're nodding heads welcoming in the coming of Spring.
Based on a variation of a Lenten Rose Hellebore named the Harvington Double Pink Speckled this piece consists of over 90 hours of slowly and meticulously stitched work. The materials are Voile, Cotton Twill, Cotton Stranded Thread and Wire with little to no glue being used to hold the piece together. It is as close to pure stitching as is possible!
The piece is set in a custom made frame by Northwood framing and is backed with felt and stitch signed.
